Why should you get a manicure?

Most people can paint their nails, so why get a manicure? If you go to a nail technician invariably you will find that your manicure lasts longer . This is due to the technician completing the nail preparation properly so that the nail polish will adhere and therefore last longer. A manicure should also be an experience, not just going into a salon where the object is to get you out as fast as possible. It is a bit like getting your hair done, when you leave the salon you feel good.
A good nail technician will be able to advise you on which colour will suit your hands and also be able to give you ideas if you want some nail art for a special occasion.
The signs of a reputable salon are certificates on the wall, a clean hygienic salon and they are only too happy to share with you how they maintain these standards in their salon. Clean towels after every client, and implements are scrubbed and disinfected after each use. If you have any doubts about the practices, you should leave.
The products used should be in the original containers and not decanted into unlabelled bottles. If this is the case, you do not know what you are getting, is it the product you asked for? Unfortunately this happens all too often.
Cross infection is easily transmitted, and anyone who has had a fungal nail infection will attest to this. Fungal nail infections have risen considerably, and this I heard from a Podiatrist. He also informed me this is why we are bombarded on TV with various topical nail products. Nail infections need to be treated seriously, and some are extremely difficult to treat. So please, if you have any doubts about the sanitation in a salon, leave, the end result may simply not be worth it.
Yes, you will pay more at a reputable salon, but that is due to the products being of a higher quality and you are paying for a professional nail technician. Cheap is not always the best way to go, you have to look at value for money, and the quality of the products used.
A nail technician will also suggest you seek medical attention if there is anything out of the ordinary, and they will not go ahead and apply enhancements if there is a problem with your nails.
These are the reasons you should go to a reputable salon, and for the enjoyment of having a manicure done by a professional so when you leave you have had an enyoyable experience.
I hope this has been of some help.
